Can I use other effects pedals in conjunction with a multi effects unit?

I heard something about using the multi FX units FX loop... but mine doesn't have one, or should I(since I'm using the multi FX unit for effects not amp modeling) just put the multi FX unit through my amps FX loop? Thanks for the help.

It should be fine to put the Multi-effects unit in as a single effect in your amp's FX loop.
