re-texture walls and replace trim/mouldings in my new condo???
i recently asked a question about what i can do to make my walls and trim look normal again due to 30 years of awful paint job buildup. i got a ton of great advice for which i am very thankful for! after some research and contemplation i have decided that i would like to re-texture my walls somehow and replace my base moudings throughout, some door trim, and possibly my crown mouding.
my question is what are some thoughts on these procedures?
as far as re-texturing goes, do i need machines? if so, what kind of machines should i rent? what products should i use? can i just buy textured paint of use a textured roller? how much would a pro charge?
as far as moulding goes, should i paint it before or after installation? is coping really necessary?
any feedback you guys have on either of these procedures will be greatly appreciated!

The easiest texture a DIY can apply is sand paint. I'm not at all a fan of texturing, but I do it often. It collects dust/ and residues from cooking, smoking, etc. and is impossible to clean. Knock Down is decent, but a challenge for a DIY.
I paint every day of my life, and while I kind of get it (30) years, PAINT, even over that amount of time, should still only be MILS thick, but depending on application could very well be its own texture by now. Since you don't state stripping, which would be ludicrous, and rather than adding even heavier thickness in Texture materials, why not do a test, with a color, and a LONG nap roller cover. The effect can be as impactful.
Replacing Cove base, Window or Door trim isn't so difficult, and as answer 1 states probably should be PRE-finished, then patched after the nails are NAIL SET. Hmmm COPING. I see so many Q's that ask about Coping. I really wanna suggest having CROWN done by a pro.
First of all, even assuming all corners, all BUTT joints are exactly 90 degrees, CROWN still takes cutting at multiple angles at the BUTT, to achieve a tight fit, and even then some spackling might be needed. It might also dictate you using a compound Mitersaw. Certainly the correct angles are readily available, online or elsewhere, but it may not be a challenge you want to take on? No offense.
Without knowing at all, how much work you need done, I can only give you a variable, hourly charge, from ME. $25 to $50 per hour plus materials. Obviously that has to depend on more factors than just sq. ft. of an area.
