(Spanking Parents Only Please) How have you spanked your child these days?

Depending on their age ect. Do you spank with hand or tool, clothed or bare bottom, over knee or bent over or standing.?

I believe bare bottom spankings with hand only, until my children reach an age where they feel embarrassed to be seen naked. I will actually stop baring their bottoms around 6-7 years old, even though nudity around parents still isn't an issue with children that small. I just want to be sure not to humiliate them.

Once I feel they have outgrown bare-bottom spankings, I still plan to make them remove any pants besides underwear. This is so every spanking will still begin the same, whether they were wearing thick snowpants or thin pajama pants when they got in trouble. I will also begin using a small paddle at that age..probably a socco paddle with a few "stinger" holes drilled in it that will also make its intended purpose obvious. My wife may use a hard-rubber soled slipper, since the grandmother who raised her was a strict but loving disciplinarian who used slippers very effectively to raise three good kids.

After age 12, I hope spankings are pretty much a thing of the past. If a situation arises where I think a spanking is appropriate for my teenager, I will address the issue at night after having them change into their night clothes. I may buy a school-type paddle for the purpose or can use a bath brush..just anything effective through more clothes. Of course this will require their cooperation, which I plan to get through the threat of a worse punishment (works on all ages although requires following through now and then).

I spank my son over my knee and will continue to do so until he is too big. Then I will probably make him bend over a bed or something. I do not believe in just grabbing a child by the arm and wailing away. It is best to take/send them to a particular room/place, sit down and make them come to you for a spanking. If they refuse, tell them they are making it worse on themselves. Eventually, if they have to be dragged over your knee, make sure it is an experience they never want to go through again. If the child is too old to drag, wait for the other parent (or stepparent) to act as a reinforcement.

I believe that God wanted children to have two parents for several reasons, and one was that sometimes it may take two people to discipline safely. If my wife ever has trouble disciplining one of our children when they are older, I will help keep him in place while she spanks.

I want her to do most of the discipline while I am at work, but if she has to say "wait till your father gets home" that should mean punishment will wait regardless of begging afterwords to get it over with. And when I get home we may not have rump roast for dinner, but there will be a roasted rump at the dinner table. As much as it may kill me to have to offer my son something other than hugs, I will make sure he learns his lesson and cooperates when his mom disciplines him..
