Bar Sink

Is my lip ring suppose to sink in from the outside?
I got it pierced three days ago and I know it's suppose to sink in from the inside to protect your teeth, but it's sinking in from the outside into my lip. I can push it out, but it hurts when I do and when I go to sleep at night and wake up it crusted around, but it doesn't hurt once I push it out. But it keeps sinking in. Should I go back to my piercer to get a long bar? It's a stud not a ball.
Studs have balls at the end most of the time. I'm assuming you meant not a ring. I'm not really sure about sinking in from the outside but it wouldn't hurt to go see your piercer and get their opinion. If the bar is too short and it's touching your lip, then that's the problem because the piercing needs room to heal. After the swelling goes down you can have him put in a shorter bar.
