Stepped on Broken Glass?
I heard the glass break and did not pay any attention when I went to investigate so I stepped right on glass and sliced my foot along the arch so I can still walk on the foot without pressuring the wound. I lost quite a bit of blood and really did quite a number on the tile in the living room. I got to the bath tub and investigated the wound, it did not seem very deep but was about 1-1.5 inch long. I got the bleeding stopped after about 10minutes of care and cleaned the wound also used a coupe butterfly bandages on the wound. I have this giant pad over it and took it off about an hour later and a lot of blood was on the bandage, I cleaned it up and put new bandages on. 2 hours later I am getting ready for bed and check the bandage and it had as much blood absorbed as on the last bandage. The Cut still stings time to time and I was wondering if I should go to the doctor and have him look at it or just keep cleaning and caring for it or when I should go to the doctor. Thanks
Well I have self treated similar injuries. Keep it clean, and tend to it a couple of times a day - wash with antiseptic, and apply clean padding and a bandage around the foot to keep the wound closed, try to allow the wound to close over the night. If it is still open and bleeding in the morning you may need to get it stitched. Remember your feet naturally sweat easily, and as such you will need to air the wound from time to time once it holds together
I think people often worry a bit unduly about these things. If you are relatively competant at looking after yourself just keep an eye on it. If it is still bleeding a lot after a day or so then i think medical attention is necessary. but ultimately it is up to you A+E will probably have it sorted faster
