Experiment in biology...?

Placing two sheets of filter paper at the bottom of 3 petri dishes adding 20 drops of different liquids on each petri dish. Placing 15 soaked mongo seeds on top of the wet filter paper. Covering the petri dishes then placing it side by side in a safe place to be observed after 2 days.

Setting up an identical petri dish but equal volume of distilled water added to the filter paper.

Ensure all plates are left at the same temperature for the duration of the experiment.

What problem is being investigated in the experiment?
To discover the effects of different liquids on the germination of mongo (have you got that right, I've never heard of them!) seeds .

What hypothesis can you make from the set-ups?
Your hypothesis should state what YOU think might be the outcome eg 'Adding different liquids to mongo seeds will make no difference to their germination' or 'some liquids will cause increased germination in mongo seeds'.

Constant variables, No. of seeds, Temperature, Duration of experiment, Volume of liquid added, variety of seed

Experimental variable is type of liquid added to seeds.

What result do you expect to observe that will support your hypothesis?
Observing seeds for signs of germination after 2 days.
Counting the number of seeds germinating in each plate after 2 days .

What is the next step to do?
Calculate % germination in each and repeat experiment and average results to ensure reliability of results.
