undermount sink bowl

Is it OK to have a 5"-6" Vessel Sink (Top Mount) sit on top of a 36" vanity?
We previously decided to use an undermount sink, then have recently decided to change to a top mount sink (a vessel sink). Do you think there is a problem with the height of a 36" vanity with a 5"-6" vessel sitting on top? We have kind of tried it out by placing a large bowl on top of our vanity and it seems to be okay, but we are unsure if it is practical. We know that this height may be a problem for children and shorter adults. If we do purchase a vessel sink, it will be glass for sure, meaning that we cannot recess the sink like you can do to stone/other vessel sinks. It will have to sit on the top of the vanity.
Here is a picture of a vessel/top mount sink:

Thank you.
Most vanities are around 30 inches in height, not 36...to be comfortable for the average person, I would not suggest a vanity to be much more than 32 inches unless everyone in the family is very tall. Resale needs to be considered if you plan on selling.
