Threading Machine

Sewing Machine Threading Problem?
My sewing machine isnt picking up the bottom thread. everything is threaded and where it should be but when i wind the wheel to push the needle down its not catching the bottom thread (the one coming from the bobbin. anyone have any ideas why?? I cant see anything amiss.
Is the needle in the correct way (backwards needles don't pick up bobbin threads well) and is it threaded in the correct direction?
Here's how you'd fetch up a bobbin thread normally:

Another thing to check: a slightly bent or damaged needle often won't pick up the bobbin thread, either. Try a new needle of the appropriate size and point style for the fabric you'll be sewing.
If all else fails, check the timing on the machine against the diagrams at http://www.tinyurl.com/smtiming Timing problems are much more rare than most people think, but it is possible to knock a machine out of time -- this, however, is typically heralded by bad thread jams, broken needles and loud noises.
