Telescopic Boom

Is it possible to see somthing light years away and then see current activity?
IT is said that when planets and stars are far away you are actually looking at light that is 10 Billion years old...How gay?
The north star could've Blown up for all we know right? So is there some kinda of reason how people can actually use a telescope to give a picture of current progress with a planet If they can see things millions of light years away will that deal with the effects of time? Look with your eyes...millions of years old....Look with a telescope...Its current? You could have a meteor traveling faster then the speed of light then boom it hits your telescope within minutes of sight. Is it time that affects light or it it actually what your already see from a first person point of view? Is the digital or telescopic lenses actually peeling away time when viewing?
na when you look with a telescope you dont see the future, its just a tool that magnifies the light it lets you see things your eyes cannot pick up. a microscope doesn't let you see the future either, just improves your eyes.
and a meteor could not pass light speed, nothing can. it would not get close to you unless it was already very close to begin with.
