Is a clothes dryer heater core hard to replace?

I bought a used dryer from my friend, and I know it still worked when she had it. She said it was old but worked really good. When we first hooked it up, it worked for a load my husband put in. Then when I went to do a load, it would not heat up. Then later it worked and now it is not. When I say it didn't work, I just mean it didn't heat up. It runs good, it just does not get warm, even if you run it awhile. I like the style of this dryer. It has nice settings that you don't see on the one's I've had before. I'm guessing that the heater core is bad. Is it hard to replace? Does anyone here have any handyman tips for replacing a heater core? How much do they usually cost? Thanks for any advice you can give that is helpful. icon smile Style Dry Core

I would check and see if you can replace it. My last dryer was welded i would have had to cut it out.

All so i would check to see if the relay is just gummed up. Easy way to tell is to see if the core is getting power. If it isn't i would clean the relay contacts.

If you can get a Element off ebay they look real cheap icon smile Style Dry Core
The last dryer i did i just repaired the old element by using a bolt and a nut to "compress around" where it burned out.
good luck

Be real safe as the 220 can kill you easy. If you or your husband works on the dryer make sure someone is always in the same room when you're trouble shooting.
