Stone Masonry

Is Masonry a good trade to learn?
I'm in grade 10, and I want to learn masonry and possibly do it for a living after highschool. I'll probably go into a Masonry college and specialize in a certain area like fireplaces, or stone walls. Is this good profitable career to get into?
Note: I love hard work, I love to build things, and I love the fact that I can build a brick wall that will be there for years.
Based on your note, yes.
But, also, think beyond that, and beyond your age. You do masonry - but have an exit plan -- it Is hard work and someday, you may not want to do it any more and will wish to do something else as your "old man" back weakens, or you become injured, or some other unforeseen event occurs,...
You can make a very good living at it. It is hard work that also requires thinking and specialized knowledge.
Your exit plan might be to have a crew of guys that work for YOU. And your experience and knowledge picked up over the years helps them be better...
I'd really recommend a 4 year university/college degree. Maybe in business. It may seem silly or pointless at first - but it will improve the overall quality of your entire life. And make it easier for you to do something else, if you decide you need to. If you don't, you will simply know a lot more and will be able to appreciate a lot more of this world with the exposure you will get.
My thoughts/saying was always "do what you love and the money and success will follow".
If going to work everyday is more enjoyable and less of a drag - you will do better than others in your field - whatever it may be.
Good luck.
