Replacement Die Set

What should we do? Mouse death?
we had 2 girl mice and one of them died today from a large tumor and had distressed breathing. we had only had the mice for two weeks.
is it too late to get a replacement playmate for the remaining mouse, or is it set in stone that if they aren't from the same tank they shouldn't be housed together?
will the mouse be lonely for the next (approximate) year it lives?
Girl mice are usually easier to introduce to each other. Males tend to have a bigger issue with it.
I'd recommend giving it a try. Mice are pretty sociable creatures and since she still has most of her life ahead of her, getting another female is probably a good idea.
Here's a site to help you through introductions: http://www.fancymice.info/introdoes.htm
It might take a little while to get everything to end up hunky dory. You probably will need a separate place to put the mouse until they are familiar enough to live in the same cage together.
For most ease of introductions, try to get a mouse that was one of her cagemates. If that's not possible, try to choose one with an easy disposition.
Hope that helps and good luck!
