how to connect pvc to cast iron pipe fittings?

I am replacing some of the cast iron pipe with pvc. My question is what is the best way to attach the pvc to a female end of a cast iron pipe.

Hate to sound so obvious. But Tap it if you need an attachment (match the Tap to the PVC) on the cast iron, or simply find a thread match with the pvc if one already exists Male to female its all the same. I'd recommend you go to your Hardware store and find a MACHINE FITTED attachment first though. that is ALWAYS best to attempting a good TAP if you ain't experienced.

Just about ANY other suggestion is TEMPORARY, and subject to failure. Like Funco, strap or rubber refit (as examples).

Of course, since this is a permanent fix, it will be unpopular, if not misunderstood by far too many MORONS. Yet it will also be one of the least expensive.
