foam or wool polishing pad to use for polishing your car?
I am wondering what type of polishing pad is best to use with a machine polisher. Wool or foam?
It depends on the product you are using. Some compounds and polishes have a specific pad to be used with them. If the product you are using doesn't specifically call for a certain type of pad, use a wool pad for buffing compounds and a foam pad for polishing compounds and polishing glaze.
A coarse foam pad for buffing compounds will generate more heat than a wool pad will and will also burn through the paint easier than a wool pad.
