The effects of electrostatic fields on pregancy?
I make magazines where I work and each binder has this bar that shoots static electricity onto each magazine so they will stick together better and are more stackable. Someone told me that when these were installed, pregnant women started miscarrying and that the manual for this equipment noted that pregnant women shouldn't stand within 15 feet of it. Of course now that manual is nowhere to be found so I have no way of seeing this for myself. I don't want to risk anything, I'm about 10 weeks along, but I also know that my supervisors won't make it easy for me to be able to stay away from this equipment without evidence that it could pose a threat to my pregnancy. I've searched on the internet but am not finding anything, so if anyone has ANY information I might find useful I would appreciate it!
hi...if you are required to work with equipment you should be fully trained on it and have access to any safety equipment and reports about it....ask your supervisers to provide you with this information...if they dont, try contacting the manufacturer of the equipment directly to see any conclusive evidence.....im not sure whereabouts you are, but you also should not have to work in an environment which could potential endanger the life of you or your unborn child...perhaps you could change positions so you do not need to work around this equipment....or even speak to a union rep...good luck
