Man Drywall Panel

How can you install beadboard/wainscoting on uneven cement?
Half of my basement is drywall; the other half is cement and uneven. I've bought the wainscoating from HD, but my handy-man says it won't work on uneven cement walls. Is there any glue or adhesive that will allow him to install beadboard (wainscoating) over an uneven cement wall? The panels are 36" (3 ft) talI.
He's right. You will have a very poor result if you install it over uneven walls.
I have personally done this many times, and the result is always great.
The solution is simple. Inexpensive and easy to do. Find the spot where the wall heaves, or sticks out furthest, mark it and keep it mind. Install fur strips (1/4-3/8) along the walls first. Space them every 12 inches. Use a level to make sure they are all as even as can be. Shim behind any part, or any strip so that they all are secure and even. Then apply the wainscoting to the strips with glue and fine nails. At the top of the wainscoting, apply a simple chair rail molding, or other that you prefer, to cover any gap left.
Write to me, if you have any questions. I'll be happy to respons ASAP.
