Lifter Tool

1979 AMC stuck lifter?
i think i have a stuck lifter well heres my story hopefully it will help you determine the problem. I just recently bought a 1979 AMC concord for $250 in very good condition exept the guy said it has a knock so he sold it to me for 250. after the car warmed up the oil got thiner then i herd the knocking wich only got worse as i kept driving. the knock semaed to be worse when acelerating. so i got home and the next day when i try to drive the car will not go it will back fire and stall. i took the valve cover off and notived two things. on one of the cylinders one push rod was bent, and the other came out of the rocker arm. so i replaced the bent one with a new one, and now i noticed that the pushrod in one of the holes not the one where it got bent, but the other one was sitting lower than all the other pushrods. now does that sound like a stuck lifter? can i just buy one of those tools and replace it?
As said above, it's not a good idea to replace just a lifter, but it will work if you are trying to save money and time.
This is what i would do as a first attempt. REMEMBER, the lifters have to go into the same position they came out of!!
You could take all the lifters out and let them soak in solvent. Not sure about this engine, but you may be able to take them apart for further cleaning. You'll definitely get an idea of the condition of all of them by doing this.
