Hardwood Floor Flooring

Hardwood Floor?
I have been hearing that Floating floor are much better in insulating noise. But, my flooring store tells me that is only true when it is installed over a thick layer of concrete. And that is why it is used in the apartment buildings.
He tells me that when istalled over a sub-floor of plywood, the nail down type may indeed be better, and certainly not worse.
I appreciate feed backs.
That is the first time I have ever heard someone say a floating floor is better at insulating noise. Most people say they hear it "click" when they walk across it in heels.
You can put down a pad that will cushion the floating floor and thus reduce the noise. Besides, a floating floor is about the only type of wood looking floor you can put down over concrete. With out a lot of effort and moisture problems.
Your choice of flooring has alot to do with your situation. If you have kids and pets a laminate may be better. If your area is very humid, again a floating laminate floor. I would compare prices on the nail down and the floating floor. I have never had anyone tell me that! Usually people are concerned with wear and tear from product to product. You can install anytype of flooring you want on a 3/4" subfloor of plywood. I would look around and ask more questions.
