Life of an Electronic Ballast if switch on and off approximately every 10 seconds.?

I know the bulbs wouldn't last very long. But if the fixture was turned on for 10 seconds then off for 10 seconds, about how long would a standard 60 watt Ballast last?

Secondly are there special Ballasts that can be used for casses such as this?

I don't necessarily agree with tlbs, altho he's very good and could well be right here.

You said ELECTRONIC ballast. Is there a make/break mechanical contact? If so, it's unlikely to survive more than several K operations. If not, then I doubt its lifetime would be any shorter than if it were just left on -- it would probably outlast the bulbs several times over in this case.
