Die Punch Set

Best way to put holes in sheet metal?
18 - 26ga. I need to make lots of small holes for rivets as well as rectangular holes in the middle of the sheets. It's a new hobby, so I'm trying not to spend a ton and I don't have any tools yet.
What's the best way to go? I was thinking an automatic center punch and using a hand drill but I'm not sure about the rectangular holes. Otherwise, if anyone could recommend a set of punch and dies with a guide that would be good for entry level. Or anything else and if there is anything else I might want to get started with, please let me know.
The center punch and drill wil be fine for the holes for rivets. For the rectangular holes I'd suggest a Dremel tool using the abrasive cutting blades. You would want to use the fiber reinforced ones as they tend to be more durable.
