Diamond Coated Rotary

Question about carbon coating on shaver cutters?
I have just bought a Remington R510 diamond series mens rotary shaver which has Diamond Like Carbon (DLC) coated cutters. I sent an e-mail to Remington asking them what sort of DLC is used in this shaver and they said that it was PVD DLC which only really tells me how the coating is put on the stainless steel cutters but doesn't tell me which of the 7 types of DLC is used e.g. Tetrahedral
hydrogen-free amorphous carbon film or whatever. This web page :
http://www.ist.fraunhofer.de/english/c-p...
gives a table of the different types of coating.
Which do you think my shaver uses and do you think in general that there is any risk even if the cutters are worn or damaged that it is possible for any fragments from the cutters getting through the shaving heads (whilst shaving) and presenting an ingestion hazard ?
I'm tempted to say the only way you could ingest any is if you were shaving your tongue.... but I won't.
The amount of DLC on your shaver blades amounts to a fraction of a microgram. It would have to be highly toxic to have any effect at this level, and I can't find any suggestion that it is in anyway harmful at all.
If you mean will it slice your inside to pieces then the answer again is no. The coating is about 2 microns thick, so any loose fragments would be about the same order of size as a red blood cell.
