Detroit Diesel Engine
Would you be able to take a gasoline k10 blazer and put a 6.2 liter detroit diesel engine into the k10?
IT is hard to find a good diesel blazer because there isnt very many and they are to find in the right condition. So I want to find a gasoline one and put one of the diesel engines into it so I could make it biodiesel. Could you do this? Would it be hard, do biodiesel get better mileage and what else could I do to my blazer to make it cool. If I cant do this what options do I have?
For myself, I wouldn't make the conversion. WHY? It wouldn't be an easy changeover. Actually I've owned a K10, it was gas powered and two wheel drive, helped a lot with fuel mileage. One option that I also have owned, was a Jimmy that had a 6.2 liter diesel. These two vehicles essentially are one in the same, just different badges. The engine compartments are certainly large enough. I have owned a couple of diesels over the years even a turbo diesel mercedes. Personally, for me the added cost for a diesel, the engine weight in the vehicles, the incessant noise and sluggishness was not one of my favorite kinds of engine for a auto. By the way I drove semis, which almost exclusively were diesels, for almost two million miles in all kinds of conditions. Weather effects things in diesels that you need to research before you do this. Keeping your water filter for your fuel clear is extremely important. Waxing, injectors and modified fuel are things to investigate. I have on occasion had to add other components into the fuel to help extend getting a bit farther down the road. Yes you can run a wider variety of diluted fuels, but not without consequences. Mixing used vegetable oil from a diner and you might smell like a french fry going down the road. Too much used engine oil or you have an injector start to go out and you leave a black or greyish white smoke screen. Besides availability of fuel isn't in every station and cost isn't any better.
