Copper Fittings
I have some 1/2" copper fittings with the solder already in them. Do I still use flux and how long do I torch?
there are two reasons these fittings already have solder in them. are they used? if so, buy new ones. you could possibly clean them with a 1/2" wire brush. i dont put too much trust in the fittings that come with solder aready in them, but they should work. yes, use flux. my favorite is nokorode, but oatey works ok. heat the fitting on the under side, not the pipe and apply solder to the edge. apply until a drop forms at the bottom.
