Concrete Laying and Stencilling - help!?
My husband and I took out a loan recently to have our driveway repaired - concreted and stencil surfacing. a large new slab of concrete was laid about a month ago. The stencilling was finished last week. We have not driven our cars on it and today we noticed a fine crack (about 1mm wide) which goes all the way down through the concrete slab and is about 6 foot long. We rang the people who did the driveway and they reckon under warranty they are not liable to repair anything under 7mm wide. We rang fair trading and they also said the same thing. This driveway cost us an absolute fortune and we are a hard working couple who have been set back 3 years by this. Should this crack be appearing so soon and is there anything we can do??
Concrete has the tendency to crack, but this soon?? It would appear that something was done wrong, wrong mix, to fast a cure are two possible answers. The sad this is that this will most definitely get worse over time...hopefully they put expansion joints in.
