Can the owner of a building live in their own commercial zone building?
As the owner, we would like to build out an apt in our commercial zone building. Is this legal when the building is zoned as commercial use only? It would be for our own use, not rented.
The answer is going to depend on local laws, but usually you can build a residence in a commercial building, in order to provide 24 hour security to the building. A perfect example of this would be a mini- storage facility, that has the manager living on site.
You can always build an "office", and this office can have a kitchen, a private bath with tub or shower, and after it is finished and inspected, any furniture that you want.
