Coil Framing Nailer
framing nailer nail size and use?
building a new home....bought a framing nailer.... was hoping i could actually use it for all the framing but it doesnt seem like i can find 3 1/2 inch spiral nails.....it seems the largest spiral out there is 2 1/2! .............do i need to buy a coil nailer to use a spiral that long? or should i just use smooth shank? or what about ring shank...any good??
You can use 3 1/4 x .131 " Smooth shanks (10 d's) for all your framing ( 3 in a 2x6 top & bottom, 2 in a 2x4 top & bottom), and 2 1/4 x .131 ring shanks for all your sheathing ( Approx. 6" spacing in the field of the sheet, 4" on the seams).
Don't bother with the spiral shank nails.
