Aluminum Tripod

Which tripod would you choose for an amateur?

The first tripod has a load capacity of 5.5lbs (2.2kg).
The second tripod has a load capacity of only 2.2lbs (1kg)
So, when thinking of buying a tripod, you need to consider how much total load you are supporting (total weight of camera plus lens and any additional lenses and external flash).
The second tripod would be far too lightweight for a dSLR. And in the description of the first tripod, it says that it's a very compact and light tripod designed for first-time buyers of compact point and shoot cameras.
So, if you have a dSLR (I think you have the D3000?) you might want to consider an even more sturdy tripod than the two you have linked.
