Wall Valve

How can I fix my new shower valve handle to sit flush with the wall?
A plumber replaced our shower valve but the new one is about 1.5" longer, so it won't sit flush with the new tile. Can the solder be melted to angle the pipes away from the wall? Will all the connections have to be completely removed, clean, and re-sweated?
this is a double screwup and i feel for you. the plumber should be responsible for fixing the problem and whoever did the tile(i'm a tile installer) should have checked as well before tiling. the only way to remedy this is to remove the tile and cement board around the fixture and recess it to be flush. if the wall behind the fixture can be accessed you may try to recess it from there but i'd have to have been there to determine this. usually the plastic piece that covers and protects the fixture during installation has a note..flush here with finished wall.. that obviously was not heeded in your case...good luck
